Map Prints
The etchings are from plates placed underneath maps as they were dissected. They become a record of every knife cut. "California I" and "California II" are from either side of a map of California. "Every Principle Highway" was from a plate underneath "Ground Zero," completed in 1999.
The screenprint "Pennsylvania" (Ghost State) originated as a rubbing of a map I'd dissected and refolded. I printed it in six overlapping layers of translucent white ink on a beautifully soft black paper.
